Participants will analyze how they are embedded within the B.E.S.T. Instructional Guide for Mathematics (B1G-M). They will align the Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning Standards (MTRs) with teacher and student moves and make connections across instructional approaches to strengthen benchmarks-aligned, high-quality mathematics instruction.
Session 2: Inquiry-Based Instruction
In Session 2, participants examine the essential elements of inquiry-based instruction and engage in student-based mathematical tasks that integrate multiple MTRs while ensuring access for all learners. They will design their own inquiry-based tasks that promote productive struggle, meaningful discourse, and the use of multiple problem-solving strategies.
Session 3: Differentiated and Systematic Instruction
In Session 3, participants examine the essential elements of differentiated and systematic instruction and collaborate to plan effective implementation in the mathematics classroom. Participants will experience these instructional approaches through the lens of a student. Through these interactive activities, they will reflect on how to incorporate these instructional approaches into their own classrooms.
Session 4: Explicit and Scaffolded Instruction
In Session 4, participants examine the essential elements of the components of explicit and scaffolded instruction in mathematics. They will plan lessons that make student thinking visible and accessible. Participants will determine when scaffolds are necessary, explore how to use them strategically, and design instruction that builds student independence without lowering expectations.
Session 5: Implementation and Culmination
In Session 5, participants apply the learning gained from the instructional approaches sessions to collaboratively design benchmarks-aligned, high-quality instructional plans using Florida’s B.E.S.T. Driving Impact with SAS: Leader Training on Teacher Diagnostics and Student Reports
This interactive training equips school and district leaders with the skills to confidently interpret and apply Teacher Diagnostics, Student Reports, and Student Projections to support data-informed decision-making. Participants will explore how to evaluate instructional impact, identify trends across student groups, anticipate academic needs, and plan strategically—while building capacity to lead meaningful professional learning and continuous improvement across their districts.
Driving Impact with SAS: Using Teacher Diagnostics and Student Reports to Inform Instruction
This interactive SAS training supports teachers in making sense of Teacher Diagnostics and Student Reports to strengthen day today instructional decisions. Participants will explore how to interpret data to understand instructional impact, identify patterns across students, and use Student Projections to anticipate learning needs. Through guided activities and practical examples, teachers will learn how to apply insights from reports to plan instruction, adjust supports, and improve outcomes—leaving with clear strategies and tools they can use right away in the classroom.
Florida Teacher Standards for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement
This breakout session will provide an overview of the Florida Teacher Standards for ESOL Endorsement. Participants will explore the structure of the strands, standards and performance indicators and examine how they support content and language integration across content areas. Through brief examples and guided discussion, attendees will reflect on how the standards align with current instructional practices and how they can be used by teachers and instructional leaders to increase student achievement.
From Data to Decisions: Strengthening Instruction
In this interactive breakout, participants move beyond surface-level data analysis to explore how student evidence can meaningfully inform instructional decisions. Rather than focusing on new tools or spreadsheets, the session centers on how educators think with data: examining patterns in student work, surfacing misconceptions, and translating insights into intentional instructional actions.
Participants will engage in a simple, repeatable process for analyzing student data that emphasizes sensemaking over compliance. Through modeled facilitation and guided discussion, attendees will experience and name key facilitation moves that support productive, data-informed conversations with teachers or teams. By the end of the session, participants will be better equipped to use data as a lever for instructional improvement, not just a checklist of next steps.
Task Attack: Aligning for Impact
This session will equip educators with the skills and tools to evaluate the alignment of instructional tasks to Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics. Participants will engage in hands-on analysis using a Task Alignment Tool designed to help them determine whether tasks truly reflect the benchmark’s intent and depth and to edit the task as deemed appropriate to align with the benchmark(s). By the end of the session, participants will be able to apply the Task Alignment Tool in conjunction with the B.E.S.T. Instructional Guide for Mathematics to ensure that tasks are purposefully aligned to the benchmark(s) of focus.
Strategies to Keep Students Thinking
This session focuses on what truly drives high-quality instructional strategies. Participants will examine how to design learning experiences that are challenging, supportive and grounded in real-world relevance. Through practical examples and ready-to-use approaches, educators will explore ways to promote collaboration, productive struggle and meaningful student ownership of learning. Participants will leave with concrete strategies they can implement immediately to increase engagement, deepen understanding and make learning stick.
K-12 Mathematics Interventions
This breakout session centers Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning Standards (MTRs) as the lens of effective mathematics intervention. Instructional leaders, coaches and educators will explore how MTRs drive targeted, student-centered interventions aligned to Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards across K–12. Participants will engage with the Mathematics Deficiency Portal and the B.E.S.T. Instructional Guide for Mathematics Intervention (B1G-MI) to examine concrete teacher and student moves, assessment-informed decision making and instructional approaches that strengthen both Tier 1 instruction and intervention.
FACT: College Algebra
Have you heard about the opportunity for high schools students to earn college credit from a mathematics general education course? During this breakout session, we will dive into the specifics Florida Advanced Course and Test (FACT): College Algebra starting the 2026-27 school year for all schools and districts. Participants will walk away with resources and information to support the implementation of this course.
Mathematics Practice Profile
This session supports educators in building a shared vision for benchmarks-aligned, high-quality mathematics instruction. Participants will explore the what, how, and why of implementation science and learn how the Mathematics Practice Profile serves as a powerful tool to guide, strengthen, and sustain effective instructional practices across classrooms.
Integrating Computer Science Education
Have you ever wondered if there was a difference between technology integration and computer science integration? During this session, participants will develop an understanding between integrating technology and integrating the content area of computer science into mathematics and health education. Participants will engage in activities that they can take back to their schools for integrated content learning.
Personal Financial Literacy and Mathematics
In this session, participants will learn about the additional graduation requirement for Personal Financial Literacy outlined in House Bill 1255 (2025). Participants will engage in a student-centered activity that integrates mathematics and personal financial literacy to help bring real life to the required components. In addition, participants will learn about resources offered by the Office of Student Financial Assistance and the Bureau of Standards and Instructional Support for the learning and teaching of personal financial literacy and mathematics.
Think Like a Founding Father: Creative Problem Solving to Support Gifted Learners
In this session, participants will learn and apply a creative problem-solving strategy to investigate solutions for differentiating instruction for gifted learners in the general education classroom.
America 250: A Celebration of Our Declaration
This session begins with an examination of the structure of the Declaration of Independence, focusing specifically on the list of colonial grievances against the British Crown. Participants will then trace how those historical grievances informed the protections for individual rights later embedded in the United States Constitution. Finally, they will deepen their understanding of the Founders' intent by analyzing how the Declaration of Independence shaped what are now recognized as the U.S. Constitution’s foundational principles.
Specially Designed Instruction
This session introduces Specially Designed Instruction (SDI) and explains how it supports students with disabilities within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Participants will learn how SDI aligns with high-quality instruction and interventions, and how it differs from accommodations and supplementary aids and services. The session highlights the shared role of teachers and leaders in ensuring students with disabilities can access and make progress in the general education curriculum.
Move Freely, Learn Fully: Empowering Students Through Purposeful Movement
This interactive session highlights how movement can drive engagement, support emotional regulation, and build resilient learners across all classrooms. Designed for instructional staff and school leaders, participants will explore simple, practical strategies to integrate movement into daily instruction without sacrificing rigor.
